Almost six years ago, we found the perfect property: five acres with a house that was ideal for a sanctuary, easily accessible for dogs with physical limitations. We fenced the yard and added a screened patio (the Zen Room) for safe outdoor time, even in the summer.

Barkee Laroux’s House of Love Animal Sanctuary is a small 501(c)(3) senior sanctuary and hospice near Palm Springs. Over the past 5.5 years, we’ve provided 24/7 care for over 130 animals, many abandoned in poor conditions. We offer warmth, safety, and love in their final days, and when it’s time, we give them freedom from pain. We have a strong reputation for care, partnering with other rescues to network and raise funds, while operating on a tight budget. All donations go directly to the care of our beloved residents.
